I started saving for retirement late. And when I say late, I don’t mean at 28 or 30, I mean late. Once I’d started earning enough money, I met with an accountant who gave me the hard facts: I was years behind, and retiring at 65 or even 67 was going to be an impossibility. I was distraught. I’d worked so hard, and now I was hearing that I might have to work well into my 70s? I was crushed when I imagined all the time I’d miss with my family, my friends, my grandchildren. How did I get there? The reason was simple and can be explained in two parts. The first is that life can be difficult and expensive. Even when I wanted to save, surprise costs would always come up. The second: I lacked discipline. I don’t regret many things in my life, but I do regret all the money I blew as a young person. If only I’d put even 10% of that away, my whole life could look different. I had a 401k with 4% match from my job which I did my best to contribute to every paycheck and an IRA that I was struggling to max out. When this was clearly not cutting it, I looked for ways to earn money without investing capital of my own. As I’ve never been one to give into despair. Instead of feeling sorry for myself, I decided to take action. I knew right away didn’t want to fill out surveys or become a human test subject, I had to find another way to earn money in the hours surrounding my full time job. And all of my savings were tied up in my retirement accounts. I researched heavily and found out about prop trading. In essence, it’s a day trading opportunity that lets me invest with other people’s money and take home a portion of the profits. After that, I got very good at investing by following simple guidelines I learned from the best prop trading website out there, Try2BFunded. Why Try2bFunded? I tried two other prop funding sites before Try2BFunded and found them both to be frustrating in different ways. One site offered me a measly 20% of the profits, where Try2BFunded offers 60%, and the other was just confusing. Try2Bfunded was easy to follow, even as someone that wasn’t super computer proficient, and helped me learn the basic tenets of investing quickly. After the 6 weeks it took me to get past the qualifying stages—these make it so you don’t lose too much money too quickly as a newbie—I was able to start turning a pretty impressive profit. I did this by focusing on two sectors I already knew about—tech and biopharmaceuticals—and testing different strategies. The best news is that I’m earning more all the time, and with these new earnings I’m able to invest with my own capital, on top of the $100K Try2BFunded offers. At this rate, I’ll be all caught up in just a couple of years. Just goes to show that it’s never too late when it comes to investing.
